Asin bags Best debut award at IIFA 2009

Asin Thottumkal won the Best Debut Female Award for her role in Ghajini at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2009 awards at Macau. Thousands of specatators and fans had gathered to get a glimpse their favourite stars, and Asin walked the red carpet leading to the event auditorium.

Asin, the queen who stole many hearts, shot to fame all over India with Ghajini in Hindi opposite Aamir Khan. She is also remembered for her great performance in Dasavathaaram opposite Kamal Haasan.

Millions of people around the world watched the Award show which was attended by many bigwigs of Bollywood. The IIFA Award ceremony is one of the biggest celebrations of Indian cinema, and this year was no different! Asin started off with Tamil cinema, and is today on the front cover of every top magazine.

The Bollywood beauty Asin, though she is busy with offers from Bollywood, has equally more work here in Kollywood too. She is here in Chennai to shoot for the 19th Step. The film is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and is directed by Bharat Bala. The film also casts a Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano and Asin plays his love interest. To get more comfortable with her role, Asin is working hard and practicing Kalaripayattu, a martial arts form that originated in Kerala.
